Driving Sustainability: How Bishopton Vets is Powering a Greener Future
Bishopton Vets is a forward-thinking veterinary service committed to sustainability. As part of their efforts to reduce environmental impact, they have embraced electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across multiple locations. Thanks to a collaboration with Green Energy Switch (GES), Bishopton Vets successfully installed eight fully funded EV charging points to support their fleet and staff vehicles.
Situation and Challenge: Transitioning to EVs Sustainably
As businesses increasingly look for ways to reduce their carbon footprint, Bishopton Vets identified a key opportunity: supporting the transition to electric vehicles for their team and fleet. However, installing reliable EV charging infrastructure across multiple sites required strategic planning, cost-effective solutions, and efficient energy management.
What Has Been Done to Support EV Adoption?
Bishopton Vets worked with GES to install a network of EV chargers across three key locations:
- Mill Farm: Four 22 kW chargers (single sockets), with potential to expand to eight charging points in the future.
- Sunley Raynes: Two 7 kW chargers (single sockets), with scope for future upgrades as demand increases.
- Thirsk: Two 22 kW chargers (single sockets), with expansion potential.
To ensure efficient energy distribution, Bishopton Vets integrated load management technology at all locations. This system balances energy consumption, enabling multiple vehicles to charge simultaneously without overloading the electrical circuit.
What Were the Results of the EV Charger Installations?
The successful installation of eight EV charging points has delivered significant benefits for Bishopton Vets:
- Enhanced sustainability – The project supports the transition to electric vehicles at no cost to the business, reinforcing their commitment to reducing emissions.
- Future-proofed infrastructure – The expandable design ensures Bishopton Vets is prepared for the increasing adoption of EVs among staff and fleet vehicles.
- Optimised energy use – Load management technology maximises efficiency, ensuring a reliable charging experience without unnecessary strain on the electrical system.
By integrating EV charging infrastructure, Bishopton Vets has taken a proactive step toward a more sustainable future. This initiative not only aligns with their environmental values but also sets a strong example for other businesses considering EV adoption.
