James leads the innovation, corporate relations, communications and marketing functions at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, where is part of the senior leadership team.
James has worked on sustainability issues in private, public and NGO sectors. He previously set up a Business Engagement and Innovation team at Friends of the Earth to develop new ideas, business partnerships, networks and alliances. In this role he worked across environmental campaigns and programmes on climate and energy, food, resource use, nature and biodiversity. In 2011 he worked for 6 months setting up sustainable agriculture projects in high altitude communities in the Peruvian Andes.
He held a variety of senior commercial roles at Vodafone UK developing strategic partnerships and new routes to market and founded a digital media start up in 2008.
James holds a BSc (Rural Estate Management) and a Master’s in Leadership for Sustainable Development. He is a Board Trustee of two sustainability-focussed NGOs, PECT and TPI – The Partnering Initiative, where he brings sustainable business, commercial, and leadership experience.
