Supporting businesses with net zero transition planning across Kent

We’ve partnered with Kent County Council to support small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) with net zero transition planning across Kent! Regional businesses with fewer than 250 employees and turnover less than £44m will be eligible to receive a voucher for iiE membership and tailored support to help them develop their environmental management system (EMS), put in place a net zero compatible plan for reducing carbon emissions, and upskill their staff with basic organisational sustainability competencies.

The step-by-step approach and support from the experienced iiE team will allow businesses to set achievable targets and establish a pathway to continual improvement through three accreditation levels, Bronze, Silver and Green, as they create and develop their EMS. It is anticipated that most businesses will start at Bronze level where they will set an environmental policy, start tracking baseline data, improve their waste management systems, assess performance and set targets for improvement.

SMEs that sign up to the programme will gain:

  • Exclusive access to the iiE eLearning platform and membership resource zone, with free templates to draft their own sustainability policies and procedures, measure resources and set targets, and utilise engagement campaign toolkits
  • One to one coaching session with an expert iiE environmental management advisor
  • iiE membership for 1-year with the option to undertake their iiE accreditation audit when they’re ready
  • Marketing materials to support sharing their progress

Businesses located within the geographical area covered by Kent County Council include Dartford, Gravesham, Swale, Canterbury, Thanet, Dover, Folkestone & Hythe, Ashford, Maidstone, Tonbridge & Malling, Tunbridge Wells, and Sevenoaks.
