Green Member
British Veterinary Association (BVA)
LondonBVA is the largest membership community for the veterinary profession in the UK. We represent, champion, and support more than 19,000 vets of all ages, stages, and disciplines. We take a keen interest in all areas affecting the profession, including animal health and welfare, public health, regulatory issues and employment matters and the wellbeing of the profession.
We have a dedicated Green Group who meet quarterly and lead on our environmental and sustainability push. With strong engagement from senior management and all staff we strive to not only make a difference in our building but also outside of work and to the wider veterinary profession.
Our Environmental, Travel & Green Procurement Policies outline our dedication to make purposeful changes.
With regular communication via our monthly green calendar, showcasing environmental projects & successes, we also highlight key environmental days and challenges for staff to get involved with.
In addition to this we updated our green induction process for new starters, and external clients vising BVA HQ.
Our staff workshops and bi-annual updates allow us to share stories and provide further information on a host of green themes.
We organise food & clothing bank donations, undertaking litter picking events and have raised money in a charity walk which all staff took part in.
In the building we continue to work closely with suppliers with strong green credentials, including our green utility supplier for electricity & gas.
Improving our environmental management systems has enabled us to reduce our measured resources across waste, recycling and utility usage.
We look forward to continuing our sustainability journey during 2026.
