How can we communicate climate change more effectively – so that everyone can take responsibility?

Join the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and the DOP Going Green Working Group as they explore current research and methods to help us to understand issues relating to communication, particularly around climate change.

This is a great opportunity for a range of professions to share knowledge and ideas. Come along to hear from the following experts, including:

Dr Stuart Capstick is a Research Fellow at Cardiff University. Stuart is interested in how people understand and respond to climate change. Stuart will draw on his research to consider what determines our level of interest and concern about this topic, as well as how can we communicate and involve people better with this topic.

Dr Catherine Happer is a Sociology lecturer at Glasgow University and her research interests include the media and social change and audience reception with specific focus on media accounts of climate change and energy sustainability. . She is is co-author of ‘Communicating Climate Change and Energy Security: New Methods in Understanding Audiences’.

Dr Matt Winning is a Research Associate Bartlett School Env, Energy & Resources, University College, London. His main research focus is on the macroeconomic impacts of enviromental policies. He is also a comedian and his perfromance focuses on climate change. He will talk about how he approaches this topic in his ‘storytelling lectures’.

Dr Jan Maskell, Chartered Psychologist, Registered Occupational Psychologist, member of BPS and Practitioner member of IEMA. Jan runs the Division of Occupational Psychology’s (DOP) Going Green Working Group, and will explore how we frame ideas and some of the positive ways we can apply these ideas to our work.

Nick Blyth, Policy Lead at IEMA and members of IEMA’s Climate Change Steering Group will also join the conference.
