Skills for People

Skills for People is a charity that supports disabled people and their families.  Since 1983, we have been working across Northeast England and sharing our ideas nationally.  Our head office is in Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne.

We support disabled people to:

• Lead fulfilling lives.

• Be included in the communities of their choice.

• Be strong, confident and able to speak up for themselves.

• Tell others about the challenges faced by disabled people.

Most of our work is with people with a learning disability, autistic people and family carers of disabled children. We help by – giving information, advice and support; connecting people with others in their community; running health workshops and wellbeing activities; bringing together people for fun, friendship and learning.

Disabled people and their families are at the heart of our organisation, shaping our work as employees, volunteers and leaders.
