Edberts House

Gateshead

Edberts House is a community based charity working across Gateshead

Our vision: Building happier, healthier, friendlier communities

Our mission: Edberts House enriches the lives of local people by working together to achieve a better future.

We operate four Community Houses: two in the east, one in the south and our newest addition in the outer West of Gateshead. All our houses are led by community members who come together as steering groups. We create places of connection, where people can come together, get involved, and feel a sense of belonging and are serving 1000’s of people each year.

Our Community Linking Project delivers social prescribing across the whole of Gateshead through all the Primary Care Networks. Our work has received national recognition and was influential in the roll out of social prescribing as a mainstream NHS Primary Care offer in 2019, when we also were invited to present our work to the Minister for Health as an example of good practice.

Our Health Equity team works alongside our partners in the Gateshead Primary Care Networks (PCNs), Public Health, Local Authority, and VCSE organisations to help tackle the unacceptable levels of health inequality in Gateshead. The team has two main branches to their work: our Children, Young People and Families (CYPF) project and our Communities and Place project.
