There are plenty of reasons why we should all get out and walk more and give walking the “green light”; it has obvious health benefits as well as helping to cut pollution levels. Well now there’s a new reason; National Walking Month, and a chance to help out with a good cause.

National Walking Month is an annual event, organised by the BHF to get people moving and to help fundraise and raise awareness. Whether you ditch the car and walk to work or encourage the kids to walk to school, you’ll be doing your bit and getting healthier!

Walking lowers blood pressure and may reduce the chances of a stroke by 20-40% (research by the University of Tennessee). As well as increasing blood flow, walking can help prevent disability and arthritis in older adults. With all the added benefits, never has there been a better time to put your best foot forward!
