Journey Enterprises

Journey Enterprises is a local charity which provides commissioned Day Services for adults with learning disability. These are adults with conditions from birth which significantly impact intellectual ability i.e. Down’s, Williams, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi, Smith Magenis and similar conditions. We also support a high ratio of co-morbidity, sensory, physical and/or mental health disability, consistent with the higher prevalence found in adults with learning disability.

The Charity has four Day Centres which host 160+ Clients weekly aged 18 – 80+ years. Clients join us for activities sessions on and off site which develop their life and work skills and also focus on health and disability management.  Activities are delivered in small groups of c. 8 adults.  The aim is to support our Clients to lead active, inclusive and fulfilling lives.

We work in a Positive Behaviour Support and person-centred methodology, all activities designed to meet the aspirations and requirements of the Care Support Plan (Social Care) or Continuing Healthcare Plan (NHS).

Our services are commissioned by six local authorities and by the NHS.

The Charity was chosen by the House of Lords in 2021 as one of fifteen organisations providing best practice in the UK. We hold IIP, BILD, Better Health at Work and Disability Confident quality marks and are members of the National Leaders Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
