The GBN Ltd (formerly Pennine-Pack) is the packaging compliance scheme that has been helping companies in Yorkshire and across the whole of the UK to comply with the ‘packaging regulations’ and reduce their environmental impact in a sustainable way for over ten years. We operate three packaging compliance schemes covering the whole of the UK, an environmental consultancy, The Green Business Network and we also operate the Yorkshire and Humber region of Investors in the Environment. Pennine-Pack was set up in 1997 to meet the needs of businesses in West Yorkshire who want to be members of a packaging compliance scheme where they know who they are dealing with and where their individual needs can be met with practical face to face support at a sensible price. For the last ten years, John and more recently Becky have been helping customers to comply with rules and regulations. In May 2014, we launched Ethical Compliance, the UK’s first ‘low carbon’ packaging compliance scheme, committed to buying all its PRNs from UK based recyclers. In 2016, ‘Ethical Compliance’ was runner-up in the Guardian Sustainable Business Awards Supply Chain category behind brewing giant SAB Miller and ahead of IKEA. In 2017, we have won a coveted ‘Green Apple’ for our work to support British recyclers.
