Championing Sustainable Business Transport in Leeds

LEDA provides sustainable building design and consultancy to clients across Yorkshire and the UK. Specialist buildings are designed to reduce environmental impact and focus upon improving health and wellbeing of occupants.

LEDA is making tremendous efforts to encourage sustainable transport for business and commuter mileage. They do this by engaging staff, as well as neighbouring tenants and visitors to their buildings. The company offers bike mileage claim reimbursement and provides the appropriate cycling infrastructure to encourage cycling to work. LEDA also invite clients and visitors to take public transport or travel actively by advertising routes and facilities on their website.

As part of their iiE Award submission, LEDA carried out several cycling-related projects, including LEDA summer staff bike ride 2019, National Cycle Week, Cycle September as well as making monthly donations to sustainable transport charity Sustrans. LEDA has deservedly been accredited with the Gold Bike Friendly Business Award for 2021 and achieved the Sustainable Transport Champion iiE Award.

Their twitter hashtag campaign #engineerbybike is also a fun way to show how a Director and engineer can travel to off site visits by public transport and bike.

Supported by these efforts, LEDA reduced their passenger car travel by 18% in one year.

“Sustainability underpins all the projects we design at LEDA, so it’s only right that we should extend a sustainable approach to our business activities. We are proud of this commitment and it’s great to be recognised for the efforts we have taken to minimise our environmental impact.”

Lauren Hill, Director
